LE film de 1953 de Byron HASKIN n’a quasiment pas eu de remake ou de suites avouées, en 1988 cette lacune fut comblée.

Quelques envahisseurs auraient donc échappé aux bactéries nocives qui parsèment notre planète. Les extra-terrestres s’organisent et tentent de récupérer leurs vaisseaux spatiaux.

Mais peu nombreux et donc insuffisamment dangereux, une seconde vague d’envahisseurs de l’espace parvient du cosmos, sous forme de graines (encore), et rallient à leur paroi les autochtones, clones issus de l’alchimie symbiotique.

Leur but est de détruire toute impureté sur terre et, selon la définition qui y sera proposée, il pourrait y avoir fort à faire.
